2009 Was a Good Tax Year

I just got my taxes done.

As an "S Corp", my corporate taxes are rolled up into my personal taxes. The 2009 tax year turned out to be a good one in that I ended up with a small return from Federal, while I owe just a small amount for State.

I like it when it works out this way.

Of course it's nice to know that you're owed a huge return. But getting a huge return only means that you foolishly paid too much during the year. Paying too much wouldn't be that bad if Uncle Sam paid you back with interest. But we all know that's a fairy tale.

So, I like it when I'm able to make tax payments throughout the year at just the right amount.

Well, being that I just now got the taxes done, it feels like a brand new year.

Right now, I feel pretty good about the way things are going. My corporate income is actually moving up over the past few months. It's nice to know there's always money to make payroll, to buy new computers, and to do fun things with the business that I find personally enriching.

I have this new website I'm pursuing this year called "Motorcycle Food", where I travel around visiting cool pubs and cafes located along the popular motorcycle backroads, and then write about them. I was inspired to do this after watching similar television shows on Travel Channel.

It's a way to do something with my business while also doing something I personally love to do. I have a business plan on how to make it profitable, but it'll need a infusion of capital to get it started. Of course, my business has that money, and only because my business seems to be doing well.

Like I said, I feel pretty good about the way things are going.  ✓
