All of a sudden, I discovered my Blackberry Storm would no longer sync with Outlook Calendar. It used to sync before, but not anymore.
It appears the Blackberry Desktop Manager syncs the Contacts, Tasks, and Memos, but bypasses the Calendar.
Then I figured it out.
I had installed the new Blackberry Facebook application version 1.5. It seems this Facebook app sets the Facebook Calendar as the default sync-to calendar. I switched it back to my personal calendar, and it syncs to Outlook Calendar now.

ReplyDeleteHoly cow, THANK YOU!! I have been putting my head through my desk for nearly a week now, trying everything possible to sync working again. Never occurred to me that it was connected to the new Facebook app. (I use a Blackberry Curve, same problem as your Storm.)

ReplyDeleteThanks a bunch - my wife's been miserable all day due to this!!
ReplyDeleteI actually went to Verizon and the tech person there could not figure it out... He gave me the 1800 number to call... It works great!
ReplyDeleteI don't dispute that you are a genius, but my calendar was already denoted properly. I'm still not syncing. Can you suggest something? Please!
ReplyDeleteYes thank you thank you and thank you, now I can sleep.
ReplyDeleteSteve, your spot is surely secured in heaven. Thank you SO MUCH for preventing me from attempting to slit my wrists with my own blackberry. This has eaten my lunch for DAYS now. Facebook, how could you???
ReplyDeleteditto - that did the trick. Before I read this, I downloaded Google Sync for desktop and BB and it worked great too --- plus you don't need to use the USB each time for a sync.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your post... My wife was going crazy until I found this and "solved" her problem. You made me a hero!! :-)
ReplyDeleteYeah thanks so much! ALthough like another poster above, the only option I have there is the Facebook calendar. Time to remove facebook I think... (I only use it to jump straight to the facebook site pre-signed in anyway, I prefer the actual site!)
ReplyDeleteWell done mate. Great fix, cheers.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!! That was driving me bananas!!!
ReplyDeletesteve...genius!
ReplyDeletedude. I owe you big time. thanks!
ReplyDeleteMost appointments on my BB have a red background but new ones have blue - the blue will sync with Outlook but the red ones won't. Any thoughts?

ReplyDeleteExactly what I was looking for. Thanks for the help! - Patrick
ReplyDeleteThanks! - This was driving me nuts! Top man!
ReplyDeleteAs everyone else stated I greatly appreciate this posting!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you for this invaluable piece of info! Hope BB recognizes you for saving them from lots of headaches stemming from this problem. Much appreciative, Jai.
ReplyDeleteYou are awesome! I would never have figured this out....thanks soooo much!!!
ReplyDeleteI am A MAC user and this didn't fix my problem of not being able to sync my icalendar. Any other ideas? :)
ReplyDeleteOften the default calendar is only part of the problem. If you have multiple CICAL calendars this can get things mixed up too. On the Blackberry go to: 'Options' > 'Advanced Options' > 'Service Books' and then remove all but one [CICAL] entry. Sometimes even then, with only one calendar left the Blackberry has it's own device default too, and you have to remove ALL of the [CICAL] entries. Then it will work. JUST delete the [CICAL] entries, leave everything else alone, they aren't related to the problem.
ReplyDeleteThis worked for me, thank you!

ReplyDeleteYou are a GENIUS! Thank you...I've been going nuts trying to figure out what was up...
ReplyDeleteThanks!
Just to let you know, I linked your article on a Blackberry Forum where people were having the same issue. Thanks a bunch for the article. Stopped me from going crazy!!
ReplyDeleteThe person who create this post he is a great human..thanks for shared this with us.i found this informative and interesting blog so i think so its very useful and knowledge able.I would like to thank you for the efforts you have made in writing this article. I am hoping the same best work from you in the future as well.
ReplyDeleteI saw another post in a different forum that suggested getting rid of all the CICAL entries under the advanced options>Service Books. That worked for me but I now only have the default calendar (no facebook/gmail etc.) I don't care--it worked and I never used the other canledars anyway.
ReplyDeleteThank you
ReplyDeleteSince my blackberry bold was connected to the office calendar (bes), i can no longer sync my blackberry with my home computer/outlook. i tried syncing my home computer to my blackberry using google sync but then my personal appointments sync all the way through to my calendar at work, which is not acceptable. how can i get my home and work calendars separate and yet both showing up on my blackberry?
ReplyDeleteI don't have the facebook app and mine wont synchronize.
ReplyDeleteThank you
ReplyDeleteThis did not work for me as my comcast email was the default and the gmail one was not there. I am at a loss as to why the Calendar sync keeps deleting everything older than 30 days. I have done the obvious by keeping just the comcast CIGAL, setting the Calendar sync for 'all scheduled events' on Desktop Manager.... Please help!
ReplyDeleteOh my god thank you so much!
ReplyDeleteSuper Information i am also using the Blackberry strom Mobile. It is an unlocked Blackberry Mobile..Happy to hear the news about the Blackberry Mobile.
ReplyDeleteGreat information, I had to put on "office" instead of "pesonal" to make it work, though. Don't really know why, but it works now and I never would have thought of checking the options, etc., but for your note. Super.
ReplyDeleteAmazing Voda support couldnt do it you have many thanks ! Could have saved hours if id come here first `!
ReplyDeleteHey, thanks for the help, I did this. Now i have another issue, I want this facebook and other calendars i have in my device to synchronize with my outlook too, do you know how to do this?
ReplyDeleteTHANKS!
You are a complete star. Brilliant post. I have had all kinds of bother for 5 days since the BB 5.0 software upgrade which is not supported over here by Vodafone (beware) PS the upgrade automatically installs Facebook 1.5
ReplyDeleteThanks to the person who left:

OMG...this is EXACTLY what I needed...this has been driving me nutZ! THANKS!!!
ReplyDeleteYou are a candy...LIFE SAVER!!
ReplyDeleteDidn't work for me. I don't even have a facebook account, still can't get calendar to sync. Facebook is not listed in the CICAL, only my two email addresses. Do I need to completely eradicate facebook? I've also heard the new BB messenger screws up the calendar sync. Do I need to downgrade BB messenger? I need this function back!!
